Background

Kim Larson's experience in the music industry shows a considerably diverse performance career ‐ formal events, professional theatrical productions, luxury dining, and more. Most notably, Kim had the pleasure of co‐founding the Door County Children's Choir who subsequently earned the honor of touring with the Chicago Children's Choir.

LaLa Rae Piano Studio was established on Kim Larson's passion to share her love of music with the community. Backed by her extensive professional and teaching background, and her formal education in Psychology and Music, the John Brown University alumnus has proven to her community time and again the indispensable role music plays in each of our lives.

the benefits of music education

" Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. "

‐ Plato

STEM

Scientific research has shown a positive correlation between music education and higher than average performance in the studies of science, technology, engineering, and math.

confidence

The discipline required to learn to play an instrument, followed by performing in front of others, is often rewarded with a lasting impact on self‐esteem, creativity, and confidence.

focus

Research shows that playing an instrument improves executive functions like concentration and self‐control. This can be especially beneficial to those living with attention and learning challenges.

health

Playing an instrument is good for your health ‐ it increases circulation, decreases the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and slows the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

smarts

Repeated studies confirm that a music education simply makes you smarter. Music encourages the brain's neural pathways to develop stronger, more diverse connections.

friends

What better way to make connections than through music? Musicians often enjoy deeper emotional intelligence leading to a wider social circle than their non‐musical counterparts.
